3. Caratteristiche tomografiche, retinografiche e autofluorescenza a luce blu
3.1 Ipoplasia foveale
Con tale termine si intende un’incompleta formazione del normale profilo morfologico foveale, con perdita della normale depressione, che può presentarsi in associazione a condizioni di albinismo, aniridia, acromatopsia congenita, nanoftalmo, prematurità (Figura 3.1.1), retinopatia del prematuro (17). Sono state descritte inoltre forme isolate, non legate cioè a patologie e/o alterazioni particolari oculari. In questo ultimo caso il reperimento dell’ipoplasia potrebbe essere accompagnato dalla presenza di una ridotta acuità visiva e possibile presenza di scosse di nistagmo (18).
L’acuità visiva, in caso di ipoplasia maculare, può essere più o meno compromessa a seconda dello stato del profilo maculare: un profilo foveale poco profondo con mantenimento dello strato nucleare esterno e del segmento esterno dei fotorecettori (OS) è caratterizzato generalmente da una buona acuità visiva; la mancanza totale della depressione foveale si associa a un visus medio di 3.4 decimi; la mancanza della depressione foveale e dello strato OS ad un’acuità di 2.5 decimi; la mancanza della depressione foveale, dello strato OS e dello strato nucleare esterno ad un’acuità visiva di 1.7 decimi (19).
